i am a british backpacker who has been travelling the world for nearly a decade. i created trybe to fix a problem i have constantly encountered throughout my travels which current social media doesn't seem to have an answer for.
connecting with people from all over the world is one of the most amazing rewards of travelling, a simple "hey hows it going" in a hostel quickly becomes a friendship but then, seemingly just as quickly, that friendship becomes a memory. we part ways on our own journeys and exchange instagrams, only for them to disappear into a sea of memes, ads and random posts from people we haven't seen in a decade and over time we lose touch. we could be in the same place again and never even know unless we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of each others ig story before its too late.
so i created a solution, an "oh sh*t small world mate" engine, a new way for us travellers to stay connected IRL with a simple core idea - when and where will i see this friend again?
