the trybe code 🤝

Trybe exists to help travellers find their people around the world. To keep it safe, fun, welcoming, and genuinely worth being part of, every member is asked to travel by the same code: respect people, respect places, respect the journey, and bring good energy with you.

travel is better when everyone feels safe, seen, and hyped to be there

This is not meant to read like a corporate rulebook. This is the social contract behind the app - the same values you may have already signed during your in-app initiation, just translated onto the web.

what we stand for

Different cultures, backgrounds, budgets, routes, and travel styles are what make this community special. The goal is not to impress people. The goal is to connect with them for real.

🤝

respect the trybe

Treat people with kindness, openness, and basic human decency. No hostility. No ego. No unnecessary drama. Leave people better than you found them, even if it is just with a good conversation, a shared tip, or a simple act of kindness.

🧾

be real

Use your real identity and represent yourself honestly. No fake profiles. No impersonation. No misleading photos or false information. Trust is everything in a travel community, and once that trust is gone the whole thing falls apart.

🚫

no bad energy

Harassment, bullying, hate speech, threats, stalking, discrimination, intimidation, or creepy behaviour are not welcome here. If it would not feel right face to face in a hostel, cafe, or shared van ride, it does not belong on Trybe either.

🌍

this is your space, not a stage

Small circles beat big followings. Quality beats noise. Trybe is not a dating app, a clout machine, or a follower farm. It exists for meaningful travel connection in the real world, not for performative attention online.

💸

no scams. no sketchy behaviour.

Do not manipulate, pressure, spam, defraud, or exploit travellers for money, services, external schemes, or fake opportunities. Backpackers are often in unfamiliar places and deserve a platform that does not prey on that.

🔒

respect privacy

Do not share another person's location, plans, messages, photos, or personal information without permission. Consent applies online too. Someone trusting you with their travel details is not an invitation to broadcast them.

with great connection comes great responsibility

Trybe helps people connect, but you still choose who you meet and how you move. A bit of common sense goes a very long way on the road.

☕️ start in shared spaces

Cafes, hostels, public spots, and daytime plans are always a better first move.

📍 keep someone in the loop

Tell a friend or fellow traveller where you are going and who you are meeting.

🧠 trust your instincts

If something feels off, you do not owe anyone your time. Leave. Reset. Protect your peace.

🌿

respect places

Travellers represent more than themselves. Respect hostels, locals, cultures, staff, shared spaces, and the environment wherever you go. Leave places better than you found them.

⚖️

no illegal activity

Do not use Trybe for illegal conduct of any kind. That includes fraud, theft, violence, exploitation, trafficking, or anything else that harms people or puts them at risk.

🛡️

we protect the community

If someone breaks the Trybe Code, we may investigate and act to protect the wider community. Depending on the situation, that can mean warnings, feature restrictions, content removal, account suspension, or permanent bans.

🔥

the energy you bring matters

Trybe works best when people show up with curiosity, honesty, and good humour. We are trying to create more of those "oh sh*t small world mate" moments, safely and respectfully, for travellers everywhere.

the formal version lives here too

This page is the friendlier, community-facing guide. If you want the fuller legal version alongside it, you can read the hosted Termly acceptable use policy here.

tell us if someone is out of line

If a user is making you uncomfortable, breaking trust, or behaving in a way that does not belong here, reach out. We would always rather hear about it than leave you dealing with it alone.

By using Trybe, you are agreeing to help keep this community safe, respectful, and genuinely worth being part of. Be the traveller people are hyped to meet.
